One of the most profound aspects of life is the layer upon layer, perhaps, dimension upon dimension that exists for all of us. There is the surface layer, and underneath, above, around, and through us, are the other lives or layers of our lives, that constantly percolate. If we choose to live only in the obvious layer, we’re missing the mystery and rich depth of the other lives that have been bestowed upon us. Our surface lives may be beautiful, joyful and at times painful and troublesome, but the richness that lives below the surface of that obvious get-through-the-day-life that we reside in, is where the harvest of profound thought, perception, beauty, mystery and soul resides.
We are travelers in the most intense and profound inner life, and like any journey, we have to decide to step forth and become a participant. There is a chance that we could stumble upon this, fully thriving life, but unless we open ourselves to the unknown that lies not only ahead, but inside of us, we’ll only skim the surface, never tasting the rich, fullness of this life, and all of the others that we inhabit.
