Reflections
I am bombarded by reflections everywhere - a framework of visual perception. Reflections to me…from me…back to me…. I wonder if the reflections come from the original object or if gazing at the reflection creates the original vision. Some days are a distorted picture of reality, and on other days, reality is cleansed and clarified by that reflection.

Life is a series of vision and clarity interrupted by huge chasms, cracks, and breaks in all that you were sure that you knew.  The beauty is that once the vision and clarity weaves itself into your being, you will always return to that place.  The road may be rocky and seemingly insurmountable, but rest assured……you will be back.

The ability to see beyond the obvious, simply requires a slowing down from the frenzy of every-day life and an opening of your heart.  The vision and ability to see will come with the integration back to yourself that arrives with a slow breath, the ability be still, to be silent, and not do anything other than to settle into yourself.
Once you move in that direction, what begins to come through, is the sub-text beneath the text; the beauty that springs forth even in the midst of difficulty, and the powerful insight into the world beyond the obvious.

How tired do we have to get, of the constant spinning - constant searching before we drop once again into that place of full peace and acceptance? Scratching the surface of suffering, peace beacons and waits for us.It is our natural state -  patiently praying for the liberation that comes with abandoning the struggle and exhausting ourselves by trying too hard.
Fearlessly scream out loud,  what you know in your heart is the core vision of your life.  Everything will fall into that vital life creating dance.

At every precious moment new perspectives are available. In order to “see”, we are required to slow down and open ourselves to a vision that we may have never before had the ability to consider. An unopened heart may be able to take in the beauty of violet flower blooming in spring, but may not be able to consider the perspective of that same flower, as a black and white photograph where all new intricacies become visible. Each moment presents the opportunity to make that shift - to see infinite new perspectives.

I lit a candle this morning in honor of the friendship that has been bestowed upon my life.  I am blessed in in ways that I never envisioned.  How do you imagine the unimaginable?  - Relationships that fuse your hearts together and forever change the way that you walk in the world - The gift of vision that has nothing to do with your eyes, but comes from a soul expanded in an inexplicable dimension and depth.
This morning has brought sacred sight.

An inherent missing piece for many of us is the inability to fully envision the life that we want.  In our heads that tangled vision a swirling mass of visions and head-photos that are often defined by what we don’t want rather than what we do.  As Jean Houston says - “It lies beneath the surface crust of consciousness”.  It’s there - we know it’s there, but birthing the vision to full life, is often a murky, digging deep into ourselves - a self examination that requires, time, truth, bravery, and a trail of breath that leads us to places that have been locked away for stretches of time that leave us unable to take our first step.
What is the difficulty in seeing this in a way that moves the ideal from vision to reality?  It’s time to remove the qualifiers - “If, If Only, Maybe, A Little, Might” and to reframe the vision from “I know what I don’t want……” to “I see this clearly for myself”.  The clear truth can only begin to seep into our bones when we dare to hold nothing back, say it out loud, write it down, sing and dance it; Fully moving the vision from our heads into our hearts minds, body and spirit and loudly and proudly making the declaration, first to a trusted friend and then to the world.
Today, the vision peeked its head out and said - “I can no longer stay quiet and waiting in the background, for I have become your life.  Embrace me”.

There is power in the combination of  fusing together the old and the new.  It’s not simply the replacing of one with the other, but a blending of the two wisdoms, insights and experiences, that takes us to new and unexpected places.  Residing solely in either place leads to either stagnation or an existence without wisdom and perspective.  Embracing all that has gone on before and showering that with the bright, fiercely explosive vision of newness, leads to not only expansiveness, but a richness of being that exclusive of one another would be impossible. The combination of holding sacred the best of the old with the visionary possibility of the new, leads us to hallowed ground.

What is truth in our lives?  Is it what we see on this physical plane - The pounding frenzied input of fearfulness that permeates our physical world?  That, which if believed, would lead us to the place where nothing is possible?  Is that the truth of our existence?  It is not.  The truth lies in the sense of possibility bubbling underneath a world that masquerades as truth.  It is that which we know to be true at our core, despite the external world telling us otherwise.
It takes a brave soul and a vision for what can be, to combat non-stop messaging telling us that dreams cannot come true.  Well…….there is a difference between dreaming and having a vision.  It is the vision that is our reality, if we can find our way and fully reside there.  That is where all possibility flourishes and where the truth of our lives comes home.  The other….the external….simply attempts to seduce us into believing that it is truth.  Every beat of a courageous, open heart knows the difference.

My vision is so blurred and yet at the center lies frightening clarity.  Where does this tiny beacon of truth come from when there is barely a rope visible to hold on to?  No understanding, but, it’s there.  I have no knowledge of why, how, or what it means yet, but it is there, as sure as the beating of my heart or the sweetness of each life-giving breath that I take.  Body/mind/soul jarring clarity does not at this point, beg for definition.  It only asks for recognition that this deep soul-knowing exists.
That is enough to make the next step not only possible, but whispers that the horizon is wide and while now undefined, harbors the birth of something beyond extraordinary.

Where there is a murky lack of vision, there also lives a crystal clear clarity, which is sometimes masked by things not looking as we would expect them to look. We often take only superficial, external views, and fail to look deeper at not only what is visible, but also what is possible and being laid out for to do and see. The internal look takes a much deeper bravery and fortitude than that vision of what is all around us. We’re guided and taught as young children to not spend much time going into that world - stay on top - stay happy - don’t get weighed down in the muck and mire - don’t think too deeply. Those messages are all around. Mass media promotes them and pharmaceuticals even hold out a promise of a dull happiness, if you only swallow a small, innocuous pill.
To stay there and never look a the deeper colors of our lives may keep us momentarily safer, but in the long run, we are in deep jeopardy of not only losing ourselves, but never really embarking on the journey of finding who we are. It is a more dangerous path, fraught with uncertainty.
Unexpected twists and turns in the road offer no guarantees of a happy ending, but what is offered is an intense opening of our true selves and a beauty and joy in that knowledge and vision. We become our own best friend, never walking alone; accompanied by a higher self we could not have possibly encountered unless we stepped bravely, opening our eyes and heart. We are whole and without boundaries.

It’s often an easier and more intuitive task to define what it is that we don’t want rather than what it is that we do.  To clearly stake out in your mind and heart, that territory you can see with crystal clear vision as the thing that you do want; the way you want to live your life; the fulfillment of the destiny that is not only your right, but your life’s purpose to fulfill, is not a straight-line path.
Everything that brings us closer to the state of being able to filter through the daily mass of information that clouds our minds, requires time alone, solitude and the ability and fearlessness to go deep inside, in order to examine what is at our core.
There is no short-cut in getting to this place.  It is “work” of a different kind.  We are used to having to work hard, try hard, spend time chipping away at tasks and requirements.  The way into ourselves requires that we put all of that aside and take the inner journey - one that takes no learned skill, but simply requires that we put the daily “stuff” aside and quietly go inward - No devices, no manuals, no “steps” will take us there.  It is simply us - alone - with ourselves, often accompanied by our true ally, the natural world, that will guide us gently and then often startlingly, to the place that will allow us to understand all that we are destined to know and be, and have that reflected in an undeniable truth.
